Scott Stover is a Franco-American philanthropy advisor and cultural strategist celebrated for pioneering a progressive model of venture philanthropy that foregrounds sustainability, long-term impact, and systemic change in the arts. Born in Chicago, he holds an A.B. and an M.B.A. from Columbia University, and pursued further studies in semiology and art history at the École Pratique des Hautes Études in Paris.
Stover began his career in international investment banking, leading major financing initiatives across Europe and Africa. In 2005, he founded Global Art Development—now known as Scott Stover Inc.—a consultancy based in Los Angeles that partners with museums, collectors, foundations, and artists to develop mission-driven cultural projects with sound financial frameworks.
He is credited with revitalising the Centre Pompidou Foundation in 2005, setting a precedent for cross-border cultural philanthropy. More recently, he has played a key role in the Cahiers d’Art Institute, where he is advancing the use of blockchain technology for digital catalogues raisonnés.
Stover also hosts the podcast Giving Back Is Dead, which explores how philanthropy is evolving to meet the values of new generations. For his contributions to French culture, he was named Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2013.
